~~**Project for the Cure**~~

Happy Thursday!
This week the DT team at Angela Holt Designs/ The Bling Chronicles is hosting a
Breast Cancer Awareness Event. Yes, we Know BCA month is October but....we wanted to get a jump start and culminate the event with an AUCTION of all the gorgeous projects form the team members on Friday. All proceeds will be taken directly to the Scott & White Cancer Institute by me! I'm the host for the auction since this break through research center is located in my home town.

Here's some info on the event for you... Hope you all think this is important enough to come visit the event page and Check out the projects each day. Then on Friday, please join the auction and bid on your favorite items. We would soooo appreciate it!

We are a group of mostly women crafters and so many of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another. About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Breast cancer is an increasingly prolific disease but the cure is coming! We here at Angela Holt Designs believe this and want to help make it a reality.

Did you know…
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8 (12%) women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.
The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the

United States for 2013 are:
About 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.

About 64,640 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).

About 39,620 women will die from breast cancer
After increasing for more than 2 decades, female breast cancer incidence rates began decreasing in 2000, then dropped by about 7% from 2002 to 2003. This large decrease was thought to be due to the decline in use of hormone therapy after menopause that occurred after the results of the Women's Health Initiative were published in 2002. This study linked the use of hormone therapy to an increased risk of breast cancer and heart diseases. Incidence rates have been stable in recent years.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. The chance that breast cancer will be responsible for a woman's death is about 1 in 36 (about 3%). Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1989, with larger decreases in women younger than 50. These decreases are believed to be the result of earlier detection through screening and increased awareness, as well as improved treatment.

At this time there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. (This includes women still being treated and those who have completed treatment.)~ Information reported from the Cancer.org websitehttp://www.cancer.org/cancer/breastcancer/detailedguide/breast-cancer-key-statistics

Did you also know:

That a drug therapy cure is close at hand for certain types of breast cancer? Go here http://medicine.tamhsc.edu/clinical-departments/pathology/dip/images/triple-threat.pdf to read more about it! Here’s the highlight of his work…

Dr. Alexzander Asea developed NamPEVA.
In pre-clinical tests, the drug killed cancer cells without attacking the body.
It also trains the body to keep killing them after treatment.

With that in mind, Angela Holt and several of the Design Team members have decided to present an auction on the final day of our Breast Cancer Awareness week. The auction will be held on the event page and you can bid through the comment area under the auction item(s). The auction will begin at 9:00am CST and end at 5:0opm CST. All proceeds will be donated to Dr. Asea personally by Deb Ochs-LaGrone who lives in Temple, TX where Scott and White’s Cancer Institute is located. It will be well documented and pictures taken so you can be assured that your money WILL go for his research.

On our FB fan page we have 557 members as of today. That means that of those fans, 70 of us will develop this horrible disease. Won’t you PLEASE join us for an auction that will benefit those that develop it and the world as a whole? It takes small steps to get there and we aim to be part of that!

Here is a SNEAK PEEK of my final Project... stop by the event page to check out this and others!!!

TUTORIAL: ~~**Party Glasses**~~

Thanks for stopping by...
This month at ANGELA HOLT DESIGNS
Be sure to join us all month long as
The Creative Design Team will be creating projects using ETCHALL

~~**~~**~~**~~

Etchall etching crème is a re-usable crème that produces
a white opaque, permanent etched finish on glass, mirror,
ceramic, porcelain, marble and slate.
~~**~~**~~**~~

NOW...
I want to share with you my
FUN Party Glasses using Etchall

~~**~~**~~**~~
First I began with masking off the glasses...
for one of them I used rubber bands that I just placed around the
glass to give it this really cool criss cross design till I liked what I had.
The second glass I created these circles using my Silhoutte CAMEO, cut them out
with vinyl and placed them randomly on the glass. I also masked around
the stem with some scrap vinyl just below the glass to have an even
clean line all around the underneath of the glass.

~~**~~**~~**~~
The next step I then applied the Etchall all over the entire glasses,
using a squeegee to work the Etchall all around to give it even coats...
and let it set for 15 minutes. The cool thing about this product, just
put the excess right back in the jar for your next etching project!!

~~**~~**~~**~~
After throughly rinsing in warm water... I removed the rubber
bands and cute vinyl circles... I then gave the glasses an extra rinse!!!

~~**~~**~~**~~
Lastly, I took some pink mesh bling and wrapped it
around the stems of the glasses and then attached a beautiful
piece of bling from Angela Holt Designs Bling Splendor Line..
Wal-la, my fun Party Glasses... aren't they just too cute?!?!?
I hope you enjoyed my project and remember to visit ETCHALL on Facebook...

~~**TRICK OR TREAT**~~

Happy H U M P Day Crafters!!!...lol...

~~**~~**~~**~~
... and its just plain fun to work with :)
For this fun project I used a mirror to create a cutsie tutsie Halloween decoration.

Using my cameo I cut out some silhouttes... now I was gonna do this a totally different way... but in midstream I changed up my concept and used the silhouttes instead and I was glad I did! I liked it much better. I applied the cut outs on the mirror where I wanted them and following the directions of the Etchall Cream I applied it ALL OVER the mirror... once the process was complete I added burlap to the back of the mirror. Next I wrapped the bottom of the mirror ith some black fibers, added some mulberry flowers, leaves and a rolled paper flower my daughter made for me. The strings of the burlap I added for more texture a pearl, some flatback pearls and some floral sprays.... and taa daa a cute Halloween decoration!!

Be sure to stop by my fellow DT Sister, Dawn's Blog
STRAWBERRY DELIGHTS ...
she also has a COOL mirror she has done...
so excited to be working with her today.
